Experience

I've been a freelance writer and editor for eight years, and have extensive experience in the corporate, academic and creative spheres; I'm also Contributing Editor at Peppermint magazine, a national sustainable lifestyle quarterly.

As a freelance editor, I've successfully completed projects for a variety of publications and organisations, including including Queensland University of Technology, the Supreme Court Library of Queensland and The Fashion Archives; I've also proofread manuscripts for Affirm Press, guest-edited an issue of M/C Journal and provided reader's reports for the University of Queensland Press (UQP). I've written and edited copy for small businesses and independent creatives, edited, formatted and proofread PhD theses and other academic documents and edited fiction and non-fiction manuscripts of various genres.

BA English Language and Literature (King's College London)
Graduate Diploma Writing, Editing, and Publishing (University of Queensland)

Special skills

I'm an experienced academic editor and have previously worked as a contractor for Australia's largest academic editing service.

I've also worked with a range of non-fiction and fiction manuscripts, including short stories, YA and memoir (I edited a version of Alan Sampson's 'Schools of Fish' manuscript, which went on to win the 2015 Finch Memoir Prize). I have years of bookselling experience, and am particularly passionate and knowledgeable about contemporary literary fiction and YA. In 2014, I was one of Seizure Journal's four winning editors for their Viva la Novella 2 project, and worked with an emerging writer to help successfully prepare her manuscript for publication.

In addition, I've written and edited website copy for a number of corporate and creative clients.
