IPEd Conference: registration open

First keynote speaker confirmed

Registration is now open for the 9th National Editors Conference, to be held 8-10 May 2019 at Pullman Melbourne on the Park.

The biennial conference is an exciting opportunity for editors and other publishing professionals, researchers, students and associates to connect, learn and celebrate best practice in editing and publishing. In 2019, the conference theme will be Beyond the page, highlighting emerging trends in editing and publishing across platforms as well as across the range of professional roles and modes in which editors contribute to the publishing process.

In addition to the formal and professional development aspects of the conference, there will be opportunities to socialise and network, including a welcome reception, a Melbourne Noir la mode-themed Gala Dinner, tours, breakfast and dinner gatherings, exhibitions, book sales and much more.

GALA DINNER
Join us for the Melbourne Noir la mode-themed Gala Dinner on Thursday 9 May 2019.

The Art Deco style Mural Hall is a hidden treasure in Melbourne and will be the scene of the Gala Dinner. It's a stunning room - named for the beautifully painted murals on the walls. And the food will be just as magnificent!

Dress up in your favourite 1920s style - think flapper dresses with daring hemlines, (faux) furs, feathers, gloves, extravagent suits and brogues - and get ready to Lindy hop the night away!

Tickets cost $125.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
IPEd is delighted to announce Susan Butler, AO as the first confirmed keynote speaker at the conference.

Susan Butler was the editor of the Macquarie Dictionary, Australia's national dictionary and, as editor, was largely responsible for the selection and writing of new words. In 2017, the seventh edition of the dictionary was published with a revised and updated range of dictionaries in print and online, and in digital and app formats. Sue is a regular commentator on Australian English on radio, television and online.
