Writers groups and editing
Gillian Lloyd is the guru of writers groups in Queensland. She has a passion for bringing writers together to regularly and constructively meet in person. Gillian convenes NightWriters Queensland, and since 2013 she has organised three highly successful writers group conventions in Brisbane. She will be our speaker on Wednesday 2 March.
The conventions have created a groundswell of interest in writers groups - and with them, the question of what to do about editing. How do unpublished (and mostly) inexperienced writers feel about their work? Are they scared to show their work to anyone, let alone a professional editor? Are they worried about the cost of professional editing? Are they keen to improve, to reach that 'next step'? What, in fact, are their goals for their writing?
Come to our next general meeting to hear Gillian talk about these questions and many others related to writers groups.
